Hello, welcome, and Don't Worry.
My anxiety and panic attacks are almost completely under control thanks to meds and therapy. I started on Effexor (which worked) and now take Cymbalta. I also take .25mg of Xanax as needed and there are days when I can fly right thru without having to take it - really.

I'm an alcoholic and my drinking patterns are anxiety related in addition to having a Fine Family History. Thanks, Dad.

I have had despair such as yours and wanted to reassure you that you are more likely to see posts from people in trouble rather than folks who are doing well. The nature of a site like this, I guess.

I decided to see a psychiatrist for my medications because the "primary" physician I'd been seeing - or not, really, I'd see the nurse practictioner - had me trying all sorts of meds that weren't helping, and there was no followup. When I became really ill - add major depression into the mix - I sought professional help. I also see a therapist.

I hope to see you around on the boards. Good luck.
