I am new here and to the types of medications talked about. My journey started in Novemeber of 2005 when I was a pedestrian hit by a drunk driver. Aside from the physical injuries I also suffered a TBI, and PTSD. In the beggining I was given pain relievers and 2mg of Valium for muscle spasms, then I was started on Zoloft. I went through the Neuropsychological testing, and am now seeing a Neuropsychiatrist for the course of part of my recovery. The problems I have are my body not adjusting to the medications well. The Zoloft gave me no relief and chronic gastric problems, now I am on Efexer XR, and Zyprexa at a low dose, but these to me feel worse than the Zoloft. I explain this to the docs but then they look at me and say "DONT YOU WANT TO GET BETTER" WELL YES I DO, but it's even more frustrating to feel like you want to PUKE ALL THE TIME, and are having HORRIABLE SWEATING SPELLS, and FEEL LIKE A ZOMBIE and I am sorry these meds have not made me feel good at all. I felt better when I was taking the small dose of Valium for the muscle spasms. I NEVER HAD NIGHT FRIGHTS THEN but I do now. If medications effect everyone differently then why is it so hard to understand that there are going to be some patients out there that WILL NOT BE ABLE to tolerate them? I have always had an intolerence to medications so this is not something new. HELP I AM SO FRUSTRATED. I still have the physical pain from this accident and I guess that is what the zyprexa was suppose to help with or at lest help me sleep but guess what IT IS NOT! I have to be able to function even at this limited level right now because I have a small child to raise, and I can not be walking around feeling all doped up. Any suggestions at how to tell the docs that something has to give?
