I have been tried on a number of antidepressants over the years and suffered either adverse reactions or side-effects such as rash and fever. The one medication that worked 20 years ago was Parnate. I was on no medications for at least 15 years when I started to get depressed again, and I was tried on some new medications wiht adverse reactions and rash, etc. I was put back on Parnate and am now on 40 mg. in the morning. It does not seem to do anything for me anymore, and I am still very depressed. I can fake feeling okay at work, but I am then exhausted by the time I get home. The psychiatrist prescribing the Parnate recently sent me to a consultant who was someone he had not had contact with for a few years. The consultant was hostile and abusive to me in that he blamed me for the sexual abuse I suffered when I was a child. He was having memory problems and confusion as well, and my psychiatrist was apologetic for sending me to him. Problem is he noted some problems with him as well and said this psychiatrist never answered the referral question. He thought he had some good to offer however. I am feeling quite traumatized by all this, and even though I liked the psychiatrist I had been seeing for therapy as well as for med's, I now feel like I cannot trust him anymore. I am at a loss as to what to do about both the medicaitons and the doctor.
