> Hi Herpills, my tinnitus began when I started the taper..long before I was off the klonopin. At first it really bothered me, but then I got used to it. When it's bad it is like New Mexico locust on a hot day...or any kind of insect buzzing. Most of the time it's a needle of high pitch sound. I know it will stick around for months or years...but it is slowly but surely decreasing and will continue as long as I don't give in to temptation to take even just 1.5 mg klonopin. When I went back to my previous dose a few times the ringing did not go away and it has been there ever since. That was 4 years ago. But since my last klonopin on Sep 15, 2008 it has become the worse a month later and has diminished to about half that. My runny nose/rhinorrhea is a much worse symptom to deal with so the ringing is just an annoyance. However I am becoming more convinced that it is not klonopin related or caused...especially since I seem to be the only one with it. I guess it's off to the allergist I go. Thank you for your post and I hope you will persist in your goals...to either find that right dose or stop completely if you choose. You may wish to read the literature about successfully tapering at www.pointofreturn.com. Without that support group I'm not sure I could have made it. Good luck and I wish you the best! nacreous.
I forgot to mention that I am 100% convinced that the ringing is caused by the taper...even just going down .75 my from 2mg. When I back slid the ringing did not stop so I just kept tapering. I highly doubt it was from the noise at your job or that you have any permanent damage. I have been exposed to loud noise before the klonopin and any ringing never lasted more than a day or two. Don't give up. Sincerely, nacreous.
