Yes, wild turkeys can be really startling. I've lived in an area where there were many, and encountering one was always interesting.

I was alluding to the great "WKRP in Cincinnati" Thanksgiving episode when Mr. Carlson (I think that was his name, the station manager character) did this giveaway promo event where he dropped a bunch of live turkeys from a helicopter flying over the city. Reporter Les Nesman was on the ground to cover the event live on the radio, and his report went the way of the reporter for the Hindenburg incident as he said, "Oh the humanity!" as turkeys were falling all around him. Gordon Jump, as Mr. Carlson later said, "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!"

A classic, and any turkey "incident" reminds me of this favorite old TV show.

Now, don't get me started on the phone police. :D
