I don't think that there was a legal issue, perhaps a threat of liability if she continued with me. She claimed to be in "private" practice, which make her outpatient practice separate from her clinical duties to the hospital. However, the bonds of medical kinship are strong I do believe.
I don't even think they hold us in warm professional regard...just notes and bills.
