from _Klartext Reden_, by Caroline Fey

Loose translation by me. Please do not quote without giving credit to the author.

--------------------
Our self-esteem is made up of the following aspects:

+Goals - finding them and putting them into action
+Living in integrity with your values
+Successes
+Personal responsibility
+Positive childhood experiences
+Relationship with others
+Social recognition
+Self-confidence
+Self-acceptance and self-love

10-point power program

1. What are your strengths?

2. Remember your successes. Keep a journal of all achievements - no matter how little.

3. Set goals. Be sure that you have goals - and realize them.

4. Get affirmation! First ask people you're sure to get it from. Later, risk asking people whose opinions you're not sure of.

5. Ask for the information you need.

6. Take responsibility. Accept that you alone are responsible for your own life. Whether your childhood was positive or negative, you're responsible for today.

7. Pay attention to the company you keep. Surround yourself with people you like, who are good for you.

8. Live with good things. Surround yourself with things you like.

9. Take care of yourself. Be sure you have sufficient energy sources. What are your "oases"?

10. Stand by yourself. Accept yourself as you are. This doesn't stop you from improving - accepting yourself is the best way to develop.
