There is quite alot of info here relating to the various signs your husband showed, bipolar is a good start in the searches.
Often cell membranes can be affected with age, as well as many other things you can search in posts.
Antiepileptic drugs have been used more and more for bipolar specific disorders. These become mood stabilisers. Age isn't necessary a cause, but it can influence things as well as history bloodlines.
Best to post questions in others posts relating to what you learn, specifically are in need of help with. But this is a good start :)
