Therapist mentioned binge eating...

Posted by Pandabear on February 24, 2004, at 20:46:19

My therapist asked me if I had been binge eating...I didnt realize that this could be a disorder...but, I did notice that I had been eating a lot more. I had gone shopping for food..(all healthy) yet, I ended up buying a cake mix and making a cake for myself..which I was going to eat on my own by myself. At my session with her yesterday, she asked me how my appetite was, and I told her I was craving more food..but i didnt tell her that I had almost eaten an entire cake by myself. Anyway, I ended up giving what was left of the cake to my coworker to eat...THEN, today for lunch, I had half a box of bagel bites and then tonight the other half, plus five ice cream sandwhiches...and yogurt...I dont know that this is considered binge eating..but its been going on for the past several days...maybe its just cravings for certain things..I dont know..but when she asked me if i was binging...not binge and purging...but just binging....I didnt say anything..now Im wondering if this is something I should be looking into...? I have always been one that eats until I cannot eat anymore..rather than stopping when I feel full..and I know this is a sign...but i dont know. If anyone knows about this..please let me know..I need to start saying something to my therapist if it is something of concern.. but I havent really heard much about binge eating disorders...so i dont know where to begin or if I really need to be so concerned...I already have so much on my plate..if you know what i mean...any thoughts and advice would be WONDERFUL.
Thanks. <><
