<<< Internal conflictedness is likely to be our peril for a moment, a day, several months, a year, a decade, or even a lifetime. internal conflictedness is earmarked by seemingly unresolvable issues, with at least one issue inexorably (seemingly) tied to "family-of-origin" issues and family-enmeshement (codependency). The family-enmeshement issues are the most likely to "highjack" and/or "blackmail" our sensibilities.

We act counter-intuitively and suffer the consequences for the sake of the family, the family such as it is. Locking us into this pattern is indecision of what to do. Blocking our vision of alternative strategies is denial of what it is. Together, denail and indecision suffocate us, highjacking our common sense, and blackmailing us into not changing our feelings, our behaviors, nor our intentions. We just get stuck and stay there.

In 12 step parlance, "Show me a rut, and I'll move in and furnish it!"
