It's a little complicated.

First make yourself something nice to drink. Maybe lemonade, maybe ice tea - something you like. Then put on your favourite music, if you like music, or plain quiet if you prefer. Find the most comfortable place in your house and assume whatever position is the most comfortable.

Then close your eyes. A few deep breaths, let go of those tight muscles, and there we are! I'm the one with the long dark hair, plump, smiling and sitting in a swing on the porch, watching a pair of cats chasing butterflies. On the lawn there are a few of us playing frisbee, running and jumping, laughing. Others are sitting in a gazebo, talking quietly. Someone else is sitting away from the rest near the cliff overlooking the ocean, with paints and paper.

There are fluffy white clouds in the sky.

From inside of the house, a big, many bedroomed Victorian with a veranda all around, there is the sound of distant music, someone playing the piano?

There are gardens, flowers in full bloom, and slight cool breeze to take the edge off the warm afternoon. There is someone on her knees among the flowers, happily digging. In another part of the garden, there is someone with clippers and a basket, collecting flowers for the house.

Someone is cooking, and there's a very slight smell of something delicious on the air - baking bread? Or is it cake? Both? And a roast of some sort? It's hard to tell, as it mingles with the smell of the sea and flowers from the garden.

You're wherever it pleases you to be, in the company of whomever you choose, sitting, dancing, cooking, lying in the grass, feeling close and cared for, safe. Or apart but knowing that your solitude is chosen. You're surrounded by the gentle presence of people who take you as you are, who talk when you feel like it, who listen when you need to speak.

There are no demands here, no ringing phones, no dinner to make, no house to clean, no shoes to shine.

To the quiet tinkling of the ice in your glass, to the sounds in the distance, to the smells on the breeze, sit with us.
