I don't believe they see it quite the same way, though. Their brains seem to function normally.. especially the males. Their brain's "deep limbic system" isn't as strong as a female's. Male therapists - males - simply will not have the same capacity for emotional bonding that women do. Which sucks, if you're a woman. Because you can only be really completely understood by another woman. But a therapist can help you if your problem isn't emotional, or if you're the kind of person who can rationalize her way through an emotional problem. I apparently am not one of them. So my male therapist hurt me, too. And yes, I did feel manipulated like you did, Cecilia. And yes, I think a lot of the time I don't know what I'm talking about, not the way they do. Which makes me even angrier. The assumption is that because they're therapists they'll know what's best for me, but this man knowingly left me in great pain, and I somehow deserve it. It's been like that all my life, why would a therapist be any different? Why would I assume that a man, just because he has "psychologist #" whatever behind his name and Dr. in front of it, would do something good for me? Hah.
