I am glad you acknowledge that the fear is what is making you make it worse for yourself before it actually gets worse.
I read somewhere that it is more important for people to be right than to be happy. So I think in the interest of being right, we trade in good things and volunatirily take up bad things ourselves, so we can say, "oh well, I knew this is how the world is". But the right thing to do is, to give life a chance.
