I don't know about Poet, but I'm about to RUN to my nearest art supply place and buy tons of stuff, from you-guys suggestions.
This is a great thread. I love these ideas.
But, Poet, if Dr. Clueless is really Clueless, you could go back to the first plan, and wrap a black poem around a red ball and just bounce it off her head.
Maybe will jostle the tangled connections free, and she'll start making sense.
