The whole thing sounds frustrating. But I have this "speech" I've sort of given here off and on.

Basically I'd like people to know that figuring out what happened - getting the memory or memories -- does not result in a "cure." This is not an ABC afterschool movie in which there is this great AHA moment, someone admits to it, someone else vows to protect you forever and then everyone hugs and it's all better.

The memories are only the beginning of some painful, soul wretching work. And you can do the work without the memories, which is what it sounds like you've done. So waiting for them isn't necessary. I think you sound very wise around this.

And I think it is normal, no matter what kind of childhood you had, to want to remember stuff and relate cause and effect. It is the universal "why" question. And one usually without an answer.
