The teaching of most religions is that life is valuable in and of itself.
There have always been words for the (what word?) failures (how's that?) among us.
My wish for the new year is that ideas like winners and losers are felt to be too (what?) vulgar? awful? contaminating? to entertain.
And that individually and collectively we manage to be more gentle, generous and kind.
The miracle is that we are alive.
We should try to live well (even if we can't), but we should not withdraw our care from anyone.
Once Maxi (I think it was) you did a beautiful post on the subject of 'hopeless' people in mental hospitals, and I'd find it for you if I could recall enough of it to search for it.
