Doing Nothing

Posted by DAisym on February 23, 2008, at 16:48:24

********Can you rest? Just rest your body for one day, then maybe two***********

Like I said, this is a really good question.

I feel so guilty when I do nothing (meaning I don't clean, shop or work) all day. If I sit and read or watch movies, even if I don't feel good, I get mad at myself. I feel like I'm "giving in to" the depression. Allowing myself down time comes about 9pm - when all goes quiet and dark. I think this is why I hate to sleep.

Sleeping in makes me feel bad too, even if I've stayed up late. I give myself such a hard time. But I would encourage anyone else to take it easy and recharge their batteries.

I wish I could convince myself that if I do allow myself to do "nothing" that this is healthy and good - not sluggish and bad. I also think I'm afraid that allowing it might make it a habit.

The final thought that just hit me as I type - maybe doing "nothing" was too dangerous when I was a kid. Moving, being busy meant I was upright and alert.

Anyone else have this problem?
