And how to step out of it?

I keep on falling into this pattern again and again with my father. Trouble is it spreads out through the rest of my life - it's not contained in one relationship. We keep on swapping roles of victim and persecutor/adult and child. It's been like this for as long as I can remember. I'd been doing better over the last two years, but lately things have piled up and I can't get past it. It feels good to see the process written down so simply like that. Anyone else have this problem with parents, siblings etc? Did you find a way out?
