Thanks, AnnieRose. It's really not awkward at all. I thought tonight might be a little weird to start with because it's been so long, but it really wasn't.
We do talk about her new life, her granddaughter, etc. We don't talk about new friends she's made or anything. Tonight, for obvious reasons, we spent most of the time talking about loss and grief and how to deal with it because she's been through it and I'm just starting it.
We usually split the bill, but tonight I bought her dinner because she drove (she lives in a small town about 20 minutes from where I am and she had to pick me up).
