Hey, everyone, there are links at www.atkins.com.
I'm hypothyroid and have had a _lot_ of trouble losing weight, even on low calorie 'diets' with lots of exercise. When I followed the Atkins program for a month, I felt more energetic and lost 6 pounds. My weightlifting also showed more results.
Um -- the thing is, don't expect to maintain great results for life without always following a lower carbohydrate diet.
As to the ethical question of vegetarianism -- keep in mind that it is also ethical to take care of our bodies. In addition, just as some places on the planet are hospitable to farming, there are also large areas -- such as the mountainous regions in the middle east -- that are well-suited to grazing animals. As long as the food-providing animal's life is taken with respect, and that meat is going to be used without waste and with respect for our bodies, I consider it quite ethical.
