Jay, has your doc suggested that the added weight has become a health issue for you? I know that 80 lbs is a great deal of weight to have gained, but is there an minimum amount you need to lose before something as drastic as surgery is recommended?
I know that when I was really worried about my weight gain my p-doc tried to make it a non-issue; that my mental health was more important and my weight concerns were, well, trivial. My T did not see it that way, but she helped to have me put these concerns aside until my other, larger problems had been dealt with.
The irony is that as my depression and anxiety began to respond to treatment, I was able to muster enough energy to exercise (which they'd all been telling me to do from the start, but I wasn't able to drag myself around the house, much less around the block). Are you exercising at the moment? I'm sure you're probably eating a healthy diet, so we won't even go there.
