Oh Daisy, how sad. Everytime I hear this song, I feel so sad for those it is about and for our country. It's such a beatiful song. I have it in a few different versions...The Kingston Trio and Judy Collins. I love singing this song, though because it's so moving and a lovely, mournful melody.
I will definitely think of Aaron and his squadron when I sing it again or hear it again.
On a lighter (sort of) note...hubby and I were out listening to our favorite live band, an acoustic trio. They played the song about Kent State..."Four dead in Ohio". Hubby, not from Ohio, said in all seriousness, "I always wondered what this song was about." ARE YOU KIDDING? He said that 'cause he figured I must know since I was singing along. Sheesh, how can you not figure it out from the words? Of course he kind of blurs over them... :)
