i'm not sure what the Deadly Relative has in mind for this years festivities (this is the Deadly Relative who hosts christmas dinner every year but has yet to learn to cook). I believe in her off time she parades around as the Grim Reaper just to stay in character.
my mother in law suggested we eat only the dishes we bring since everyone is contributing something. The Deadly Relative provides the bird and since that was almost the product of our demise last year i'm thinking a birdless christmas is on the horizon for me.
the question is, should i make an attempt to look like i am eating her food? you know, slide some turkey under the rice and voila, it's gone?
or should i be brutally honest about how christmas day just sucks at the emergency room...everybody is in the back eating leftovers, blah, blah, blah.
last years free range turkey cooked realllly low with the giblets inadvertently left inside created a cornacopia of bacteria that could have quelled half the western world.
so the tasteful etiquette question is how should i handle this? your comments are appreciated.
