Well, I used to blame myself entirely.
But my son is, if anything, even more sensitive than I am. He can open up the car door and ask me what's wrong before he's totally inside. Even if I am not aware that whatever is on my mind is showing. Even if it isn't directly on my mind! He does the same with his dad, even more quickly than I do.
So much for my theory that I learned that skill by living with volatile parents. I may hate it when my husband is tense and anxious and angry. But he's nothing at all like my parents.
Obviously he'd be the tribe member who would note the vibrations of approaching visitors, or smell the difference between food that was safe to eat and food that wasn't. :)
My son is clearly the most delightful person ever. So it can't be a trait to be deplored, right?
