Hi Danna... I'm planning to start a MSW program in the two years. I recently withdrew from a psychological research-based program that was NOT my thing at all. I sort of knew that going on, but now I'm absolutely positive. Aside from some very basic searches, I dont really have many ideas about where I'll go though.
I know that doesnt really help in terms of advice/support/etc... but just wanted to say hello! Do you mind if I ask where you're attending? Of course you dont have to answer if that makes you uncomfortable.
I think the key to enjoying the social work profession is to really have a passion for it. Of course that helps in any area, but there are many issues with social work as you mentioned... pay, burnout, etc.. so I think a strong passion and drive is incredibly important or else it might stop being "worth it" a year or 2 in. However, I do think your mom is right that a graduate degree opens a lot of doors. Social work is great because it opens LOTS of them. There are so many different things you can do with a social work degree. I dont know, I'm very tired and rambling. More coherent thoughts later. But nice to meet you!
