SPOILER for DRUG TALK

I have always been a fan of 'better living through chemistry,' but my days of illegal drug use are over.
I used to party hard; you name a drug, I did it. I'm not proud, but I'm just giving some background..
Cocaine and alcohol were always my drugs of choice; but I would settle for anything.
I've been off of 'street drugs' for quite some time now, and up until a few months ago, I was quite happy with my dr. approved medications regiment.
I take lexapro, lamictal and xanax for bipolar II, bulimia, panic disorder and OCD. I have been good about taking my meds, except for the fact that I drink about every night.A couple of months ago, I had a fairly serious foot injury. I was prescribed Lortabs... I didn't think much of it until I started taking more and more of the recommended dose.. So when that prescription ran out, I went to another doc and got another script for more lortabs, and so on and so forth. Eventually I couldn't get anymore scripts. I was flipping out. I REALLY wanted more opiates bad. I called everybody I know, and nobody would help me out.. Finally a friend of mine offered me some Methadone. I was leary at first, I though methadone was used for heroin addicts as a way to get off of heroin and I didn't have a problem with heroin. My friend proceeded to explain that methadone is a very good pain killer and would help keep me from jonesing.. So I bought some methadone...
At first, I took only 10 mgs. I felt good, relaxed and energetic at the same time.. The next day I did 20 mgs, and I have been on thirty mgs for the past month.
I have got to say that I love this stuff - I feel awesome on it; I feel a great sense of euphoria, I feel like I can just lay the bed staring at th wall for hours, I close my eyes , but I'm not really asleep.. I LOVE THIS STUFF.I'll quit story telling now; I really do have some serious questions about methadone.
First of all, what is the addiction potential associated with methadone? I have noticed that as I run out of my supply, I get increasingly anxious about how I can get more..Second, what family of drugs is methadone in? I know that it is not an opiate as it is an opiate blocker.
Third, is it possible to get a prescription for methadone as a painkiller?
I don't know a THING about methadone except that I LOVE this stuff, any feedback would be great.
Thanks!
There are only so many
