Hello all. I am taking Cytomel, a thyroid supplement (T3) now in addition to Prozac, 60 mg, and Neuronting (600 mg, 4 times a day).
Some days I'm fine - perhaps a little "high" (I'm Bipolar). But other days I'm Exhausted - like today.
Has anyone found something to take on occasion to boost energy w/o getting anxious/irritable?
Thanks!
- KK

Yes, Desoxyn (methamphetamine) is a nice little pick-me-up, and docs just *love* to prescribe it!
Ok, sorry, my inner smart-a** got the better of me there.
Really, how about an old fashioned cup of strong coffee? Especially if it is truly just once in awhile, coffee is a nice stimulant, and there's no prescription required.
The copays for coffee are small, and unlike Desoxyn, you can make it yourself at home without risk of blowing up your neighborhood or getting jail time. Those are pretty big advantages, in my book.

I take Serzone at night for anxiety and sleep, so I drag a bit in the morning. And this has been about three years. Exercise has always helped, but I'm not always into it. Now I need to lose weight, and I'm much more committed. (Bad choice of words--committed.)
I have to walk my dogs every morning after I drop my daughter off at school, so I drink a cup of decaf (can't take caffeine--migraines) and go. I use my dogwalk time to racewalk two to four miles. Then I come home and eat a half a banana or an apple and take a multi-vitamin and a mega B complex.
The B complex addition has been just in the last three weeks. I have felt terrific since the second day of taking it. I am mega energy. I feel like I could go go go. At the same time, though, if I lie down on the bed in the afternoon during my daughter's nap, I'm asleep in minutes. So if a chronic insomniac with sleep-related anxiety can fall asleep in the afternoon, we're not talking about getting hyper here.
Chocolate and coffee are great pick-me-ups, but the first doesn't last that long for me (sugar buzz), and I can't do caffeine anymore (maybe you can't, either).
Good luck to you. I hope this wasn't preachy. I'm always wary of perky folks who say exercise and vitamins, yippie! But I'm not a perky folk! I'm just your average almost-forty, 10-pound-overweight, married babe with a similar problem.

Cherry coke in the AM.
I don't like caffeine at night so I drink orange juice for energy.

KK,
I've read on another thread that you recently started taking SAM-e. Does the SAM-e help your lack of energy? How much do you take? Are you taking B-6, folic acid, and SUBLINGUAL B-12? To understand where I am coming from with regard to SAM-e, please read the following two posts:

All I can add is that *any* Neurontin during the day would render me comatose. I took it all at bed, as my pdoc suggested, and it hung in there the next day just fine.
