Should I punish my child

Posted by lynn971 on December 30, 2005, at 21:17:09

There is a little girl (age 12) who is in my daughter's class and we go to the same church. The little girl tries hard to fit in but goes about it the wrong way. My daughter does not care to hang around this child.

Anyway, the girls in the class were invited to a sleepover birthday party and the above mentioned girl was not invited. The girl called my daugther and my daughter said that she was at Wal-mart. Well the girl found out that my daugther was lying and was really sad. The girl's mom called me to talk about the situation. I told the lady that my daughter just didn't want her daughter's feelings to be hurt but the lady said that when her daughter called back, another girl lied to her daughter and her daughter could here my daughter laughing in the background.

I dont agree with lying, but I really feel like my daughter did not want her to have hurt feelings. As far as the laughing in the background, I dont like it, however, my daughter is always laughing, so I dont know why she was laughing. I will ask her.

I am thinking about going to get my daughter tonight (she is at the party) as a punishment. I dont know what to do.
