I tried gradually stopping Zoloft

Posted by KIMBA2005 on November 23, 2004, at 4:49:13

Recently I gradually reduced my dose of Zoloft over a period of two weeks then quit altogether. I thought I was fine, but I noticed that my emotions were much more pronounced (including crying easily which I had not done in quite some time). I realized that after about a week of not taking the Zoloft that I probably had better begin taking it again which I did. I feel better on the Zoloft. I have been taking Zoloft steadily for a little over a year. I just wanted to see how I would do without it. I realized that in all probability that I should remain on the Zoloft. The difference was marked. I believe that I have been depressed most of my life, and I spent many years self-medicating. I am 44 and male. I am stable and do NOT self-medicate anymore. Life is a challenge at times, but I do not live in despair as much. Anyone have any thoughts, comments, or experiences to share? This is my first time posting to any type of group like this.
