Is this just my imagination? If not, are such fears justified? Seeing other people nervous about posting is making me nervous about posting.

Hey there fractal, I have been reading your posts on one of the other boards, you are a mathmetician, WOW!! I am in awe! Genuinely. Math is not my thing at all (dropped out when I was 13) but I don't mind Logic. Apparantly physics (unlimately) is just a series of equations that work and this has led some to conclude that all that really exists, all that reality consists of is numbers. I don't know whether I buy it or not, but it is true that reality can be expressed mathematically...

Anyway, enough rambelling :-)
In response to your question I am not quite sure what you have in mind. If you could provide an example or two that would be helpful.

If it was to do with the thread on Babble, then the notion is that you can't ask people what a fatal dose of X would be - that kind of help is not appropriate. Likewise, to appeal for intervention for an overdose or suicide attempt would be inappropriate: people here may have no way of interveaning which is distressing to people here. Nobody may read the post in anything approaching real time etc etc.

Aside from that, it is okay to reach out for help. It is just that there are more or less appropriate ways of doing this.

Was this helpful?

If I didn't really answer your question then feel free to clarify...

Take care.

(Oh, and I am very pleased to meet you :-) )
