Effexor-XR 'was', for me, one of the best ADs I've ever taken. Although, I do not recall anyone ever suggesting that it would help w/ my pain. And, I cannot remember that it ever did. For a few stints on it, it helped depression. But, now, after quite a few years, I have developed more anxiety than depression and ADs do not seem to work for me.
Lyrica was suggested for me at one time for pain and also created some feelings of well-being, but, after a while, it too seemed to poop out, or maybe I didn't take a high enough dose. There came a point I was taking so many pills, I just had to pick a few to stop and it was one of them.
I receive pain medication from my PCP for extruded cervical discs, a muscle relaxant, and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. My pain is probably 7 on scale of 1-10, my guesstimation. I have a low pain tolerance.
Is your pain this bad? If so, why are you not on something specifically for pain?
If you'd like to hear from others here, and get more info on current Effexor-XR users, I believe you are free to post on the medication board.
This Newbies board was just creately recently. I 'do not know if it precludes you from doing the prior', but I don't think so.
At the bottom of post you can Notify Admnistrators and ask them. If the above is allowed, they will probably move your post to the Medications board where you should get more feedback.
Feel free to keep in touch. You shouldn't have to suffer. I understand your frustration.
