I think it's great you're taking care of yourself. Was the January date worked out with your office? Do they now know you've changed that? It sounds as if you've been in a lot of pain and advancing the surgery makes good medical sense. I'm guessing that all the physical discomfort you're experiencing probably makes it harder to deal with the work sh*t anyway. I don't think you can be fired for something like this.
