I'm not doing any extra work, but reciting the lecture notes will just get me a bare pass and in the end I need more than that to make this year worthwhile.

I'm not sure. This is for the language section of the course, but alot of it is to do with memory. I really don't have a clue what I am doing - I'll just try to learn it by rote an recite it in the exam!
