As you probably know, some do that more than others, and I think the ones that emphasize that (at least from the articles I read) would be best for alleviating depression, or creating inner calm and a sense of peace.

I had one teacher who claimed one of her "exercises" (I think it was something she made up) would alleviate depression. I found that incredibly irritating. I think she was clueless as to the nature of true depression.
I used to feel much more serene after my yoga sessions, but now that I'm extremely anxious I often can't even go to class. I can't do the poses I used to do, and being in a room full of strangers is difficult. One of the meds I take causes orthostatic hypotension, which means I can get lightheaded if I go from a sitting or lying position to standing, so I get very nervous doing sun salutes. I'm also sick so often that I can't go to class regularly.
Regular exercise, when I could do it, didn't help my depression either.
I'd buy the book if I knew there was more than anecdotal evidence behind it. I was doing much better when I went to yoga regularly.
Thanks for the feedback.
I.
