From the Dr-Bob homepage there is a link to 'Frequently Asked Questions about Venalafaxine' (or however you spell it) / Effexor.

>Q Are there withdrawal effects if venlafaxine is suddenly discontinued?
>A Because of its very short half-life, venlafaxine should be discontinued gradually over at least 2 weeks. If venlafaxine is suddenly discontinued, a withdrawal syndrome involving fatigue, nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, and nervousness may develop.

There are a whole heap of other frequently asked questions there too. It may be worth having a look.

I don't think *everyone* is going off effexor. Quite a few though, eh? Different medications work differently for different people, so a medication that may be helpful to you may be less so or not at all to others.

Some people swear by effexor. Others say it makes them feel worse. Some people say the side effects are horrible if you stop taking it, whereas personally I don't notice anything at all.

You need to assess your own situation to see whether it is right for you.
