I agree with Alexandra - many people do just fine on Effexor. It worked very well for me for a year, but when I needed a higher dose, it raised my blood pressure and I couldn't take it. Then it stopped working. Having said that, I did NOT have withdrawls when I stopped because I tapered off very slowly while starting to take Cymbalta, which is in the same class of drug.

I don't know where I'd be without these medications - they got me up off of the couch!
