Cymbalta is in the same family of medication as Effexor, which is probably why it was an easy change for me. It's marketed as having fewer side effects, but I have to say that many people here have had less success on it than Effexor. For me it took a long time - six weeks or so - for me to feel the benefits.

I don't know if it's been released in the U.K.; someone on the main medication board might know.
Sorry to hear of your friend's crash. I was pretty humbled while going through an outpatient programme recently to find many of the other people relaspsing while I did OK. I don't think it has anything to do with willpower or compliance, just s**t luck.

I used to work for a company based in Glasgow and besides that experience (!) have really fond memories of Scotland from my time living in the U.K. I live in Florida in the U.S. but I'm Canadian.
