In reply to Effexor Withdrawl -- will it ever stop?!, posted by crazyjen on March 20, 2007, at 16:02:32
Hi Everyone,
Let me tell you about MY experience with Effexor. I have been taking it for just under a year and currently I swallow 300 mg/day.
I have had absoluely NO side effects with this med. Furthermore, I went on vacation and ran out (not so smart) so I stopped "cold turkey". There were NO (repeat NO) withdrawl symptoms of any kind and I was off the med for two entire weeks.
Effexor is the only anti-depressant that has ever helped me. And I have tried afew including amitryptiline, Prozac, Paxil, Welburtrin and Remeron. In fact, Effexor is the only anti-depresssant that I can "feel" at all.
From my standpoint, this is a wonderful medicine. It's been a true miracle for me. I declined Effexor in the past largely due to the scare stories I read on this site (Psycho-Babble by Dr. Bob). The decision I made to take Effexor was one of the best choices I've ever made. It's true that no two people react the same way to a med. But I believe (and this is just a guess that some will think naive) that the majority of people react as I did, with few or no side effects. Otherwise, how could this med survive? You can't get people hooked and enduring "brain shocks" and remain on the market.
Good Luck to Everuone!
