Not sure, Dinah, as I'd have to know your therapist to know whether anything else was meant by this but...

Once feelings arise in you, you shouldn't be ashamed of them as it's only human & normal for our emotions to sweep us along in their flow. If we feel sad, we shouldn't pretned to someone that what's happened hasn't saddened us. If we're pleased, we can beam about what pleased us. If we feel angry, it's an honest emotion & again, we shouldn't pretend nothing's happened & we're doing just fine.

BUT we can choose what we do about the emotion or feeling we're experiencing. If anger, do we need to express it in a harmful manner to ourselves or others, or can we use it to change somwthing for the better? If we're saddened, are we willing to share it with someone else who wishes to help, or do we keep i bottled inside? If we're pleased & happy, do we pass it along to others, perhaps smiling at strangers, or giving a cheery thank you to a grocery cashier?

That's how I'd interpret what your therapist said if I was asked. I'm a very literal person & this may not be what was meant at all - just my slant.

About the bread recipe - an apology. My mood has been pretty good this last couple of weeks but my arms & shoulders have been killing me (fibro & too hard of work at my job), so I've been lazy & bought bread the last couple of times. I still haven't made any & I miss the taste too. When I do get around to it, I'll send the recipe. Promise!
