Telling new boss I need time off for Therapy

Posted by Poet on January 28, 2004, at 11:33:52

Hi,

How do I tell my new boss that I need to leave an hour early on Thursdays? Or if Thursdays are bad days at work, what other days can I come in late, take a long lunch or leave early?

Do I email her this week so she can check the department meeting/deadline schedules? Wait until next Tuesday and talk to her in person?

I won't tell her where I go, just that I have a standing appointment and let her think what she wants. I'm really getting anxiety over this and my therapist is of no help. Her evening appointments are booked, and even if they weren't I knew from the start they're for clients who are insured or pay her full rate. I'm okay with this and understand it from the economical point of view. So later appointments are not an option.

Scheduling therapy sessions should not trigger anxiety, but it sure did for me.
