As the boss, I would really appreciate someone coming in and saying, I need to leave early for a standing appointment on... I can come in early or I will work at home to make up the time.
I know that working 1 hour at home = 3 at work! I would respect however much the person wanted to tell me and leave it at that. Really good people are hard to find so we need to be flexible for them. I'm sure it will be fine! But i would do it in person.
