DBT

Posted by Raisinb on November 8, 2011, at 22:56:32

My new therapist suggested DBT as an adjunct to our work. He is psychodamic and doesn't have expertise in that area. I really like and respect him, so I want to try it. Has anyone gone through DBT, and was it helpful for you? Also, because of scheduling, the place I called can only offer individual DBT instead of group. Has anyone done group, and did the group offer something that the skills training alone didn't? Or, does anybody have knowledge of good DBT in Chicago? For some reason I am having trouble locating many places. I did try a place he recommended but it was painfully bad--the leaders were approximately twelve years old and clearly hadn't gotten their feet wet in the field or how to lead groups.

Lots of questions, but if anyone has experience it would be helpful.
